Pushing In Style

For every car enthusiast with a healthy sense of nostalgia there is one event in the calendar that must not be missed: The Goodwood Revival Meeting, taking place in mid September (just before the Monaco Yacht Show) near Chichester in West Sussex, England. It’s historic motor sport as it’s very best, with 3 days of serious racing involving some of the most beautiful (and most expensive) racing cars in the world. The GT race Sunday afternoon is the real highlight of the event, with starters including Jaguar E-Type Lightweights, Ferrari GTOs, AC Cobras and the odd Bizzarini.

If there’s something, however, that is even better than the racing itself, it’s the atmosphere! The whole event is created like a big period party and most of the spectators do follow the theme and come dressed up accordingly. It’s all 40s, 50s and 60s style (and you can trust us, after being at the revival you start missing style in our modern times!), including glamour cab girls, old style shops and food stalls and an amazing air display. Think Mustang, Spitfire, Lancaster…

So why do we write about it here on the coquine![design] blog? Well, first of all because we enjoy attending the event and we can only recommend everybody with a bit of petrol in his veins to experience the Revival Meeting at least once. And secondly, because it’s an extremely inspiring experience (so now you know where our love for ‘retro styling’, polished metal and rivets is coming from). We will write more about it in the future (and of course post more photos!), so for today it’s just an introduction and a few pictures collected under the topic ‘pushing your car isn’t always a pitiful sight…’ We hope you enjoy!
