A Rare Privilege

Talking about music brought back some sweet memories. Back in February 2001 Ana and I have been so lucky to get tickets for a very special concert. As part of the ‘All You Can Leave Behind’ promotion tour, U2 was playing in London at the Astoria, a venue holding less than a thousand people! Ignoring the fact that the balcony was brimming with celebrities like Mick Jagger, Salman Rushdie, Naomi Campbell and the guys from Oasis or even the fact that the ticket touts outside were offering us rude amounts of money for our tickets (selling them for how much??), we were up for a real treat!”

Forget about all the huge concerts and stadiums with horrendous acoustics, forget about big polished shows… there is nothing that beats the intimacy of a small venue filled with raw energy (and Bono in touching distance, literally)! Not to mention also that Ana is a huge U2 fan…. We won’t get into all the concert’s details now, if you look it up on the internet you’ll find a few articles and the complete list of songs played. However, we hope you enjoy the photos taken at the concert, using a simple APS camera (yes, real film!) and relying on other people’s flash lights. We think the results captured the atmosphere pretty well…

Further to that, please have a look at the portfolio, where we just posted a very different music concept. Not as raw and powerful as a rock concert, but maybe a bit more interesting than a handful of invisible speakers…
